What is a domain?

A domain (Internet address) is a unique name on the internet that can be used to access a website or set up email accounts. Examples of domain names are yourdomain.pl or yourdomain.com.

But a domain is not the only thing you need to make your website available on the internet, you will also need hosting where you put your website files, and your unique name will point to that hosting.

Domains are based on the DNS (Domain Name System), which is a network of servers distributed around the world. Each website is identified by an IP address, for example, the domain google.com takes you to the IP address 74.125.127.147. But thanks to DNS we can use understandable website names instead of long and complicated numbers.

Domain registration is an activity regulated by two main institutions, IANA (Internet Assigned Numbers Authority) and ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers), they delegated the authority to administer national domains to local institutions, and then, these institutions allow other entities like hosting companies to register domains and subdomains.

At server.trading we offer a great variety of domains so that you can choose the one that better suits your needs.
